Shivsrushti & Zapurza

Before the start of the school year, our girls enjoyed a fun and educational day trip, first to Shivsrushti historical theme park, and then to Zapurza cultural museum, both just outside of Pune.
Shivsrushti - Shivsrushti is a unique historical "theme park" focused on the heritage of the Marathi empire in the time of its founder, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The main complex of Shivsrushti is a magnificent recreation of the architecture of the time. Many detailed models depict the numerous forts and complexes as they originally existed, and a fantastic 3D film experience provides a realistic aerial tour of Raigad, Shivaji Maharaj's capital.
Zapurza - Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture is a beautiful new complex, spread out on seven acres above the Khadakwasla Reservoir outside of Pune. The multiple small buildings of the complex are architectural exhibits themselves, and house galleries of painting and sculture by Indian masters, ancient jewelry, and historical artifacts. But Zapurza is also a 'living' museum with interactive activities and workshops, especially for children.
